![]() LAKE SANTEETLAH is often referred to as the "Gem of the Smokies" and considered Graham County's greatest attraction. The crystal clear mountain lake covers over 2800 acres with almost 80 miles of shoreline is ideal for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. The waters of Lake Santeetlah is fed by the pristine mountain streams of Graham County. Only about 11 miles of the 80 miles of shoreline is populated, the rest remains part of the National Forest. Most of Lake Santeetlah's shoreline, and over sixty percent of Graham County is part of the Nantahala National Forest. Many type of fish flourish in Lake Saneetlah such as largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, bluegill, brown trout and rainbow trout. The approximate elevation at lake level is 1,940 feet.
